Description: One of the most interesting images in the collection, this is Nicholas C. Hodges. He is identified in the Myers journal as "1865, age 15", "a tough Cuss" and "Shorty". Finally, Gus added, "had to use a man maker to mount" (his horse) and "rode with Captain Poole until the end, took the oath at Lexington with Poole and others in 65." Many young boys fought for the cause in Missouri as guerrillas. They were brave, exceptional fighters. (Personal note: One of my favorite images. Emory Cantey, Jr.)
