Alf Bolin and Rube Sorrells

Description: Myers journal notes that this image was taken in June, 1862. Alf Bolin led a group of Missouri guerrillas on the Missouri/Arkansas border. He said he killed 40 Union soldiers. He was killed near Forsyth at Murder Rocks in Taney County, Missouri on February 1, 1863 by Private Zack Thomas, Iowa soldier. His head was cut off and fed to wild hogs. Ref: Ingenthron, Branded as Rebels`Rube Sorrells was a "notorious bushwhacker" who was killed in Gasconade County, Missouri, September 27, 1863. Ref: Missouri Republican, October 2, 1863.
