Description: Tom Job was a vicious man. The term "Bushwhacker" is generally hated by Missouri guerrillas. Tom Job, however, was a real bushwhacker. He was the leader of a band of bushwhackers in Benton County, Missouri. He and his gang probably killed Union supporters but they cannot be termed guerrillas. Their first murder was shooting a John Myers in the back after capturing him. They were then involved in the killing of at least 18 more men in the area. Tom was captured after the war. He was turned over to some Benton County men and relatives of John Myers who promptly shot him. This is a Myers collection image and dated 1863.
