Description: Image of CSA General (Retired) Bryan Grimes(L) and his friend Sgt. (Retired) Luther E. Satterthwaite(R), 4th North Carolina Artillery. It was taken in 1867 on Grimes' plantation, Grimesland, in Pitt County, North Carolina. Satterthwaite became Grimes' overseer. Grimes was assassinated on his plantation in 1880.
