Sam Bass
Last Random Picture | Next Random Picture
Description: George Myerson Jr. collection CDV of SAM BASS. There are no 100% acceptable images of him to compare with. As this entire collection is so well provenanced, documented, and correct, it will be assumed here that this indeed is Sam as George Myers, Sr. would have bought it from a perfectly reliable, EARLY source. "Historians", "History groups", "Gold Standards", Nay Sayers can all be damned. Sam Bass was the leader of a group of train robbers. He and his gang robbed the Union Pacific of $60,000 on September 18, 1877. Later, he and his gang were involved in several minor robberies. Texas Rangers and Pinkerton agents pursued them in 1878 until an informant led the lawmen to him. Sam was shot by Texas Rangers George Herold and Richard Ware. He was taken into custody and died the next day. That was July 20, 1878. He was buried in Round Rock, Texas. REF: Wikipedia Webb SITE, 2011.
