Description: Original image of Axel Oscar Sorbel. He was the young boy who alerted the authorities that the Youngers were near his farm about 7 miles outside of Medelia on September 21, 1876. He rode for the Sheriff in Medelia which led to their capture shortly after that. Sorbel later moved to Webster, South Dakota and became a veterinarian. Images of Sorbel are very difficult to obtain. This one was purchased by the Cantey Collection from the Zink collection auction in 2013.
