Earliest James Farm image.
Last Random Picture | Next Random Picture
Description: The earliest and finest image of the James Farm extant. It was taken in 1877 and sold on the rail road car to tourists. The child on the fence has never been identified. However, the woman standing next to the door appears to be Zeralda Samuel, the mother of the James boys. This image was taken after the Pinkertons threw the bomb into the house blowing off Zeralda's arm and killing her young son, Archie Peyton Samuel.  Note the barn is still standing in this early image.
