The Mayfield Brothers

Description: Dated October, 1862. J.C. "Crak" Mayfield (L) and Brice Mayfield (R). They joined Gatewood's company at Wilson Creek. In 1862, they came home to Vernon County, Mo. and joined the guerrillas. They were both killed by a Sam Kaiserman of the 6th Kansas on 12/26/1862. Kaiserman had his photograph taken with the boy's bodies and was later known as "The Killer of the Mayfield brothers". Ref: BRANDED AS REBELS by Hale/Eakins.
