Description: Cantey collection image of Cole Younger's brother-in-law, John Jarrett. He was killed near his home after the war. Shortly after, his wife was shot to death inside of her home and his two children were burned alive inside the house. This was not untypical of how the Missouri families were treated before, during, and after the Civil War by the Kansas Jayhawkers, Redlegs, and Union military.
