Jesse W. James wounded
Last Random Picture | Next Random Picture
Description: Myers journal does not date this image. It is identified as JWJ in the journal ( Jesse James is most often simply identified as JWJ by Gus Myers who knew him well). This is an extraordinary, unusual, and significant image of Jesse. Based on his weight and infirmity, it was no doubt taken in 1866, after he had been nursed back to relative health by his cousin and future wife Zee Mimms, after being shot through the lung. He was either traveling to California or in California when this image was taken. He traveled there to stay with his Uncle and Aunt in Paso Robles and recuperate in the mineral baths.
