Colonel John T. Coffee

Description: Myers journal notes this image was made on September 7, 1862. It also notes that Coffee was Quantrill's Deputy Commander. He was with Quantrill at Baxter Springs. When the war started he raised his own regiment and was elected Colonel. He fought with Cherokee leader Stan Waite on April 26, 1862. Later that year he fought with General Shelby. He was at the battle of Lone Jack in 1862 and the battle of Westport in late 1864. After that, he moved his family to Texas. He died in 1890.
