Last Random Picture | Next Random Picture
Description: No Date noted but journal noted "killed for Bill Anderson". Al Carter was with Jackman's guerrillas. He was in many running fights. He was captured in a fight with Federal troops on September 12, 1864. Because of Al's long, black, curley hair, they though he was Bill Anderson. They shot out both of his eyes and scalped him. Later they discovered he was not Anderson. He is buried in Salt Creek Cemetery. Ref: Boonslick Historical Society, Branded as Rebels.
