James gang at Tipton Train Depot
Last Random Picture | Next Random Picture
Description: Cantey Collection image. This will be a controversial image, especially as it is a bit distant. However, I believe it is right. It came from the Granddaughter of Tom Sparks who was a cousin of the Youngers and is identified as: (Left to right), Frank James, Tom Sparks, Bob Younger, Cole Younger, and Jesse W. James at the Tipton Train Depot, Missouri during the 1870s. The man identified as Bob Younger is telling here. I have another similar image showing him with Jesse and the Northfield gang from the Myers collection that is absolutely unquestionable. The Myers collection journal states that Bob Younger was called "Slats" or "Lanky Bob" because he was tall and painfully thin. I would date this image circa 1875.
