Description: This image is noted in the Myers journal as having been taken in the Spring, near Lexington, Mo., in 1867. It was taken by E.A. Baldwin. Caldwell "Colly" Chiles (L) and Jesse Woodson James (R). This was taken after Jesse James returned from California after recuperating from a near fatal chest wound. He had lost a considerable amount of weight and become quite thin. In this view, he was still in a recuperative state.
