Description: Myers collection image of Captain William Gregg with two of his personal mounts. Missouri horses were extremely fine and frequently stolen by the Kansas Jayhawkers in raids before and during the war. Images of any guerrilla on horseback or any of their horses is exceedingly rare, especially a major guerrilla officer like Gregg.
