Description: Archie Samuel was the half brother of Frank and Jesse James. He was born to Zerelda James Samuel and Dr.Ruben Samuel on July 26,1866. On January 26, 1875 when he was 9 years old, Pinkerton detectives came to the James farm looking for Frank and Jesse. They threw a bomb through a window which exploded severing Moma James' arm and killing Archie. It was a terrible act of wanton murder. This is most likely the only known, original image of the young boy. It was purchased for the Cantey Collection from the former Wilbur Zink collection in a Heritage auction in 2013.
