John W. Vermillion

Description: Image of J.W. Vermillion, Aka "Texas Jack" Vermillion. He is listed as Virgil Earp's special policeman in Tombstone in June, 1881. He was a friend of Doc Holliday and joined the Earp Vendetta group on March 21, 1882. He participated in the killing of Florentino Cruz and "Curley Bill" Brocius. He killed a card shark in Dodge City in 1883. In 1888, he joined Soapy Smith's gang in Denver, Colorado. He retired in 1890 and moved back home to Virginia where he became a Methodist preacher.
